Across the world, flatbreads are something people happily eat anytime during the day. There are wide varieties of the same, including Chapati, Naan, Tortilla, etc.

Another delicious type of Flatbread is the Flaxseed Flatbread, also known as Flax Seed Paratha in Hindi.

For starters, Flaxseed is a nutritious fiber crop with numerous health benefits. If you are wondering how to make Flaxseed Paratha, I have you covered.

Here’s my Flaxseed flatbread recipe, which is easy to understand and implement.

INGREDIENTS required for Flaxseed Paratha

  1. Flaxseed Powder – 150-200 grams
  2. Boiled Potatoes – 2 (medium size)
  3. Garlic – 10-12 pieces (Finely chopped or roughly crushed)
  4. Green Coriander Leaves – 50 grams (finely chopped)
  5. Green Chilies – 4-5 (finely chopped)
  6. Salt – As per taste
  7. Wheat flour & water – to make the dough for parathas
  8. Dry wheat flour – for dusting
  9. Oil or butter – to be used while frying the bread

METHOD to make Flaxseed Paratha

  1. To make the powder from flax seeds, you need to dry roast the seeds for some time, cool them down, and then make a fine powder with the help of a mixer grinder.
  2. Now, mash the boiled potatoes in a bowl and add all the other ingredients afterward.
  3. Mix everything well. Once done, keep the mixer aside.
  4. Now take wheat flour in a plate and make soft dough by adding water slowly and kneading it with the help of your hands.
  5. Once the dough is prepared, let it rest for 10-15 mins.
  6. After 15 mins, take a small portion of the dough and roll it in the shape of a ball with the help of your palm.
  7. Now press it with both palms and make it flat, dust it with some dry flour, and place the mixture in the center (1 -2 tbsp, depending on the size of the ball; do not overfill).
  8. Bring the sides of the flat circle up and press down the filling with the help of your fingers. Collect the edges and close them together by giving the shape of the ball.
  9. Now dust it and flatten it softly into a circular shape with the help of a rolling pin (keep dusting it in between if required).
  10. Meanwhile, put the griddle (tawa) on high flame and let it heat.
  11. Once heated, slow down the flame and put the flattened bread on medium flame. Within 1 minute, when you see bubbles, flip it.
  12. Drizzle some mustard oil or butter on it, flip it again, and put some oil on the other side. Keep pressing with the help of a flat spatula.
  13. To fry the next one, make sure the griddle is hot enough (not extremely hot). Keep repeating the steps until you make it for all your family members.
  14. Once done, sit back and relax for some time. Let someone else serve the hot delicious parathas for you, and enjoy it with your loved ones.
