Similar to the last two parts, the third season of Gullak springs a light-hearted binge-watching experience. It leaves you in a state of mind where you can do nothing but love it till eternity. If you are a follower of the show, you will enjoy watching it. For new visitors, Gullak is a unique and wholesome experience that they have been craving for long.

Gullak Season 3 Synopsis

Directed by Palash Vaswani, Gullak tells the story of an Indian middle-class family living in a suburban area. The unique thing about the show is that its narration comes through Gullak (a piggybank made of clay).

The Mishra family comprises Shanti Mishra (Geetanjali Kulkarni), Santosh Mishra (Jameel Khan), and their sons Annu Mishra (Vaibhav Raj Gupta) and Aman Mishra (Harsh Mayar), and, of course, the Gullak whose voiceover is done by Shivankit Parihar.

It showcases how a middle-class family comes to terms with the struggles of daily life while facing personal, professional, and social setbacks. The third season of Gullak grows upon the show’s legacy and presents simple and heart-warming stories of daily hassles.

Aman, who had topped his school exams in season two is now busy with getting focused in school. Annu has joined a company and is about to receive his first salaries. Their mom and dad, Santosh and Shanti, are still doing what they are best at: fighting!

What Works for Gullak Season 3?

Stories

How can you judge a story that you have experienced at least once in your life? Gullak has many of them. It comes around as a package of tales drawn from the lives of the Indian masses. We are a stressed bunch of individuals, regularly scratching our heads about millennial things like school, job, career, family, and society.

Gullak presents a raw and unadulterated version of an ordinary family’s life on screen. Season 3 has stories of love, compassion, quarrels, sincerity, dilemmas, contradictions, etc. The creators have done a fantabulous job keeping the vibe alive for three straight seasons, an unusual thing in the Indian realm of filmmaking.

Performances

No perfect story can survive if able performances don’t support it. Gullak stars an eclectic blend of character artists who hardly come across as actors. Most of the show’s performers were unpopular before the series went buzzing among the public.

Jameel Khan, who plays Santosh Mishra, the family’s patriarch, doesn’t mix acting with expressions. Instead, he aces them separately despite doing them in tandem. His cheeky dialogues, natural instincts, the way of talking, walking, and indulging in activities that are intrinsic to the character resemble the essence of Gullak.

What astonishes me is the way he has lived the nuances of the Santosh Mishra instead of trying to act as someone who is Santosh Mishra.

Geetanjali Kulkarni, as Shanti Mishra, is the caretaker of the house, just like every woman in the urban, suburban, and rural localities of India. Her act is flawless and full of harsh realities. Geetanjali is a mother not made for the screen but the real life. That’s how majestically genuine she is while performing.

Then there is Vaibhav Raj Gupta, who plays Annu Mishra, the family’s elder son. Gupta leaves no stone unturned in evoking strong emotions from the audience. His character is more of a street-smart guy who can get things done eventually.

Vaibhav’s monologues are still soothing to the eyes, and you can never get enough of them. Moreover, the actor doesn’t let the excitement down even during comic scenes.

Harsh Mayar as Aman Mishra shines effervescently. The onus of keeping the fun going is on him, and he never disappoints, not even once. Playing a grumpy character is never easy, but Harsh does that with ease. His one-liners and foolish questions are the souls of Gullak Season 3.

Everyone else, including Bittu ki Mummy, has done a fantastic job. They have an immense contribution to keeping the series raw and real.

Warmth

If there is a lack of affection and warmth in your life, Gullak is the series to watch. The makers do not overdo things and keep a balance between too much warmth and internal conflicts. Such a proposition keeps the interest of the audience alive.

Raises Issues Throughout

In times when political issues have taken center stage all across the globe, Gullak depicts the societal paradigms. From the responsibility of the eldest child to a female’s will during an arranged marriage, Gullak does go a bit deep in unearthing middle-class problems in season three.

Rawness

What makes Gullak Season three a blockbuster is its ability to be relatable. Even a slight deviation would have discouraged people from watching the show. With the brilliance of the makers, Gullak keeps people glued to the screen.

Duration

The third season of Gullak has 5 episodes, having a short duration. It won’t take you more than 3-3.5 hours to finish the show.

What doesn’t work for Gullak Season 3?

There’s nothing that goes against the show, and it must be watched by all those who love being exposed to love, relationships, family, and genuineness.
