It has been up there for ages: Alia Bhatt’s Hollywood debut. Though the event could have come earlier, what better time to cherish it than on the heels of the blockbuster success of Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahaani.
Leaving my Indianness behind, Heart of Stone is more about Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan, two globally recognized names.
It is an out-and-out action thriller, and, of course, a spy movie. Moreover, Heart of Stone promises an adrenaline rush.
Does it deliver? Let’s find out.
Heart of Stone Synopsis
Rachel Stone, a secret agent, is out on a mission, which is itself part of a bigger mission. Her rule of not breaking the rules is tested when her agency is threatened by enemies.

Directed by Tom Harper, Heart of Stone stars Gal Gadot (Rachel Stone), Jamie Dornan (Parker), Alia Bhatt (Keya), Jing Lusi (Yang), Paul Ready (Bailey), and others.
What Works for Heart of Stone?
Ten minutes into the film and the first thing you note is its quick pace. Heart of Stone flows and flows quite smoothly.
The quick tempo maintains the tension and keeps audiences engaged to some extent.
While not all the twists hit the mark, some manage to surprise and captivate.
Though this is one of the positives, not many would be amused by it. By its very nature, Heart of Stone should have been more intriguing and crackling.
However, it is not. Only some of the many twists work.

In a plot brimming with espionage and double-crosses, the film presents minor unexpected turns that inject suspense into the narrative.
The best thing about the Netflix movie is that it lives up to its promise of delivering high-octane action.
The film serves up a healthy dose of thrilling action sequences that showcase Gadot’s prowess and finesse as an action star.
These sequences are expertly choreographed and executed, adding a visceral layer to the espionage narrative.
Aerial shots are also good. Obviously, they are far from being perfect.
How are the Performances?
Gal Gadot as Rachel is the defining spirit of Heart of Stone. She is fierce, intense, and as electrifying as it could get.
Her infectious demeanor, laced with charm, elevates the character to captivating heights, making her an embodiment of strength and intrigue.
You’ll fancy Gadot even more than you already do.
Alia Bhatt’s foray into international cinema is commendable, bringing a fresh dimension to the film.

While her performance on her global debut is noteworthy, some nuances seem unexplored. Bhatt’s portrayal of Keya feels slightly overshadowed by Gadot’s towering presence.
Nevertheless, her affability and screen presence shine through, lending a relatable warmth to Alia’s character.
Jamie Dornan’s portrayal of Parker injects a scintillating energy into the narrative.
He adds a balanced blend of magnetism and depth to Heart of Stone, contributing to the overall ambiance.
His ability to convey a range of feelings ensures that Parker becomes a character of both allure and substance.
What Doesn’t Work for Heart of Stone?
I never felt emotional while watching the movie. It simply falls flat on that front.
But that’s not the problem. The issue is that Heart of Stone wants you to get sentimental but it couldn’t execute the same effectively.
There are torpedo moments for you to shed a tear or two but, surprisingly, you never feel attached on a deeper level.

Furthermore, while stylishly presented, the storyline lacks the distinctive elements that set it apart.
The film’s narrative is marked by a series of superficial attempts to showcase the influence of technology in the modern world.
Only visual appeal couldn’t make it worthy.
Another downside is its screenplay, which might seem happening, but it’s certainly not intuitive. You won’t be hooked forever. There would only be sporadic attachments.
Should You Stream or Skip Heart of Stone?
Overall, the rush is there but the adrenaline rush is missing from Heart of Stone. If you haven’t already watched it, the movie is better skipped.
