Firecrackers, combined with the gaze and petals of the modern game in the form of flying fours and sixes are some of the tantalizing features of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The cash-rich tournament is into its 15th season and all we can do as cricket lovers is enjoy it to the fullest.

What makes IPL the most fascinating cricket league in the world is the quality of players. Except for Pakistan, every international cricket team is open for representation in the tournament.

The 2022 season of IPL is also special for the addition of two new teams, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT). Apart from novel teams, the 15th edition will also be remembered for the mammoth number of debutants, both Indian and overseas.

Devon Conway

Team: CSK

Born in South Africa, Devon Philip Conway, interestingly, represents the New Zealand cricket team in international cricket. He made his IPL debut for the Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural match of IPL 2022 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Though a fierce left-hander, Conway couldn’t make a mark in his first IPL game and was dismissed cheaply for 3 runs. Since then, he hasn’t been given another match by the Ravindra Jadeja led CSK.

Tilak Varma

Team: MI

Donning the 5-time IPL winning jersey, Namboori Thakur Tilak Varma made his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians (MI) against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on 27th March, 2022. He scored 22 in the match, scoring against top Indian bowlers.

In his second game against Rajasthan Royals (RR), Tilak Varma scored his first fifty of IPL. He made 61 off just 33 balls, depositing bowlers for 3 fours and 5 sixes. The 19 year old youngster is a promising talent who can be a part of the Indian international team soon, given that he is nourished properly.

Rovman Powell

Team: DC

The Jamaican who debuted for DC against MI is yet to leave a mark in the IPL. He is known as a big-hitter, just like other West Indians, but the right-hander scored a golden duck in his first IPL match. As of April 12, 2022, Powell has played four innings with an aggregate of 31 runs, 20 being his highest.

Akash Deep

Team: RCB

Akash is a 25 year old lad hailing from the north-Indian state of Bihar. The right arm medium fast bowler played his first IPL match against the Punjab Kings and picked one wicket. His outing has been a mixed bag as he has mostly gone for runs, despite taking wickets.

However, RCB has shown faith in the youngster by picking him consistently in the eleven.

Odean Smith

Team: PBKS

Players from West Indies have been hailed across seasons  in the Indian Premier League. Another emerging individual from is Odean Smith, an all-rounder from Jamaica. Smith took the field for the first time in the tournament against RCB and scored a match winning 25 not out off just 8 balls.

He is one of the very few overseas players to bag the Player of the Match award on debut. After a dreamy start, Odean’s graph is seeing a decline with him not being able to deliver. It remains to be seen whether he prove his worth again in the rest of the tournament or not.

Raj Bawa

Team: PBKS

The 19 year old, Raja Bawa, comes from Himachal Pradesh and bats left-handed. He played his first IPL game against RCB at the DY Patil Stadium. However, Bawa was dismissed for a duck by Mohammad Siraj on the very first ball.

PBKS gave him another match against KKR, but the youngster failed to impress. Presently, he has been dropped but who knows, he might get back anytime soon and entertain cricket-lovers with his talent.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa

Team: PBKS

The Sri Lankan left-hander, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, is known as a tremendous  hitter of the ball and he proved the same in IPL with couple of fiery knocks to his  name. Bhanuka’s debut match was against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he contributed effervescently to the team’s win.

He scored 43 off 22 balls, smashing 4 sixes and 2 fours against RCB. Skip to his second match and the promising killer of the ball smashed 31 off 9 balls against KKR.

Ayush Badoni

Team: LSG

The Delhi born Ayush Badoni made his IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants against Gujarat Titans. He smashed a startling 50 on debut, helping his team get to a decent total.

Since the first match, the 22-year-old has been a consistent part of the playing eleven. His cameos have been the highlight of LSG’s several victories.

Abhinav Manohar

Team: GT

Born in Karnataka, Abhinac Manohar debuted for the Gujarat Titans. His first game was against the Lucknow Super Giants, where he scored 15 not out. Manohar’s short innings consisted of three gorgeous fours as he helped take his team over the line.

Dushmantha Chameera

Team: LSG

The Sri Lankan quickie started of well in IPL taking 2 wickets in his first match against the Gujarat Titans. Chameera bowled three overs for LSG on debut and picked two wickets for 22 runs. Since then, he has not been able to deliver consistently for his team.

Mohsin Khan

Team: LSG

Playing for the Lucknow Super Giants, the left-arm medium fast bowler debuted against the Gujarat Titans in the 15th edition of IPL. He bowled two overs and gave away 18 runs, while going wicketless. Till April 12th, Mohsin had not given another chance to play in the eleven.

Romario shepherd

Team: SRH

The bowling all-rounder from West Indies, Romario Shepherd made his IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad in their game against Rajasthan Royals. While bowling, the 27 year old debutant went for 33 runs in his quota of four overs and took one wicket. When it came to swinging the willow, Shepherd scored 24 off 18, with two big sixes.

Dwaine Pretorius

Team: CSK

Pretorius took the  ball in for the first time in the Indian Premier League against the LSG. Part of the yellow army, Pretorius comes from South Africa and is a Bowling All-rounder. Though he couldn’t do much with the bat, the right-arm medium pacer took two wickets in his 4 overs.

Mukesh Choudhary

Team: CSK

Born and brought up in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara, Mukesh Choudhary’s debut was, to some extent, a forced one for CSK. Their regular bowler, Deepak Chahar, was out of the team with injury and the yellow army needed a quickie.

That’s when they roped in Mukesh Choudhary against LSG at the Brabourne Stadium. Contrary to the expectations, Choudhary couldn’t script a dream start to his IPL career as he went wicketless while giving away 39 runs in 3.3 overs.

Jitesh Sharma

Team: PBKS

Aged 28 years, Jitesh Sharma is a wicketkeeper batsman who debuted for PBKS against the Chennai Super Kings at the Brabourne stadium. The right-handed batter hit 3 maximums and scored 26 off 17 balls.

Vaibhav Arora

Team: PBKS

He is a Right arm fast medium bowler who got to play his first IPL match for the Punjab Kings against CSK. In an amazing spell, Vaibhav finished taking two wickets while giving away only 21 runs at an economy rate of 5.25.

Dewald Brevis

Team: MI

Known as Baby AB in the South African circuits, Dewald Brevis was handed over a debut by MI in their match against the Knight Riders. In a quick little cameo, the batting-allrounder scored 29 from 19 balls, hitting two fours and sixes each.

Darshan Nalkande

Team: GT

The Maharashtra born Darshan Nalkande got to make his debut for the Gujarat Titans under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. He was  included in the playing eleven against PBKS and the Right arm pacer didn’t disappoint the wickets column, bagging two of them.

However, he gave away runs at an economy rate of 12.33.

Shashank Singh

Team: SRH

The right-handed batter had a strange debut in IPL 2022. Though he took the field for SRH against CSK at the DY Patil stadium, Shashank didn’t get a chance to bat. He didn’t even get to bat in the second match of his IPL career against Gujarat Titans.

Maheesh Theekshana

Team: CSK

Theekshana is a 21 year old right arm off-break bowler from Sri Lanka. He is known as an economical bowler in the T20I circuits. The spinner was included in the playing eleven by CSK in their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Though he didn’t pick a wicket, Maheesh went for under 8 runs an over in his quota of four overs.

Ramandeep Singh

Team: MI

The Chandigarh-born Ramandeep Singh, who is a middle order batsman, played his first IPL match against RCB. Walking in to bat at number 7 for the Mumbai Indians, Ramandeep had a forgettable batting outing.

He could only manage to score 6 runs from 12 balls.

Rassie Van Der Dussen

Team: RR

Averaging over 71 in ODIs for South Africa, Rassie Van Der Dussen finally made his IPL debut this season against the Lucknow Super Giants. Playing for the Rajasthan Royals, Dussen had a poor start to his career as he managed only 4 runs before he was bowled by Krishnappa Gowtham.

Kuldeep Sen

Team: RR

Born in Madhya Pradesh, Kuldeep Sen is another Indian pacer, capable of landing a place in the international team in the coming years. Playing for RR, Sen made his debut against LSG at the Wankhede Stadium.

Getting only 1 wicket, he gave away 35 runs in his quota  of overs. However, the startling feature  of his debut was that the youngster was asked to bowl the final over of the innings when LSG needed 15 runs to win.

Kuldeep bowled three consecutive dot balls to Marcus Stoinis and brought victory for his team.

Suyash Prabhudessai

Team: RCB

Coming from India’s beach state, Goa, Suyash played his first IPL game against the Chennai Super Kings. He scored a fierce 34 off 18 balls, smashing 1 six and 5 fours. The right-handed batter’s prospects look promising after a stellar IPL debut.

Yash Dayal

Team: Gujarat Titans

The Allahabad-born Indian cricketer, Yash Dayal, made his IPL debut against Rajasthan Royals at the DY Patil Stadium. His left-arm pace proved worthy for his team as Dayal grabbed 3 wickets while giving away 40 runs in his 4 overs.

Though he was plummeted by Jos Buttler at the start of the innings, Yash made a brilliant comeback to stay on top in the rest of the match.

Aman Hakeem Khan

Team: KKR

He’s a right arm medium pacer who plays for Mumbai in the domestic circles. Aman made his IPL debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Brabourne stadium.

Though he was installed in the team as a bowler, Aman only got one over to bowl in which he gave away four runs. He batted at number 10 and scored 5 off 3 balls.

Obed McCoy

Team: Rajasthan Royals

McCoy does the Pushpa hook step on debut.

The 25-year old West Indian took the field for the first time in IPL against KKR at the Brabourne stadium. He played a vital role in getting RR over the line by producing a match-winning final over under nervy circumstances.

McCoy ended with figures of 2/41 in 4 overs.

Hrithik Shokeen

Team: Mumbai Indians

Born in Delhi, Hrithik is a Right arm offbreak bowler who can also lodge some runs while batting. He made is IPL debut against the Chennai Super Kings at the DY Patil Stadium.

The youngster performed well in his first outing, scoring 25 runs while batting and giving away only 23 runs from his full quota when bowling.
