From Radhika Apte’s insecure act to Kiara Advani attracting headlines for her ‘vibrator’ scene, Lust Stories 1 became an instant hit five years ago.

Back then, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Karan Johar added their direction skills to make the movie shine.

Now, in 2023, the film has a successor in Lust Stories 2. It is another anthology in the franchise and the two-hour-long film is helmed by different directors this time around.

Continuing on the original premise that can be ascertained by its name, Lust Stories 2 takes the idea of complex relationships forward in the Indian context.

Lust Story 2 Synopsis and Review (Story-wise)

Four ace Indian directors present stories on the primary theme of lust, relationships, and love in modern India.

Since Lust Stories 2 is an anthology, consisting of four stories, I will be sharing the synopsis and review for each of them individually, followed by a concluding final word.

Made for Each Other Synopsis and Lust Stories 2 Review

R. Balki’s Made for Each Other presents a light-hearted and entertaining story centered around the theme of sexual chemistry before marriage.

The segment follows Veda (Mrunal Thakur) and Arjun (Angad Bedi) as they navigate the unconventional suggestion made by Veda’s grandmother (Neena Gupta).

The concept itself is not entirely groundbreaking, as similar themes have been explored in recent Indian creations.

However, what sets this story apart is its engaging execution and the way it reflects the changing dynamics of relationships in modern Indian society.

It subtly addresses the progressive side of Indian culture, emphasizing the importance of open-mindedness and communication.

The performances in Made for Each Other from Lust Stories 2 are commendable. The ever-so-endearing Neena Gupta delivers a delightful portrayal of a forward-looking grandmother, infusing her character with charm and flawless timing.

Mrunal Thakur shines in her role, showcasing her natural talent and effortless screen presence. She has an impromptu feature to her which was necessary to deal with the grandmother angle.

Angad Bedi complements the cast well, bringing a sense of ease and authenticity to his character.

The Mirror Synopsis and Lust Stories 2 Review

Directed by Konkona Sen Sharma, The Mirror offers a departure from the lightheartedness of the previous segment, delving into the complexities of desire and relationships.

The story revolves around Isheeta (Tillotama Shome), who discovers that her maid, Seema (Amruta Subhash), has been using her house for intimate encounters with her partner.

The segment expertly captures the restrained commotion and the inner desires of a lonely woman. It also subtly highlights how relationships can form regardless of social stature, delving into the intricacies of human connection.

Both Tillotama Shome and Amruta Subhash deliver powerful performances in The Mirror. Shome skillfully delivers the range of emotions her character experiences, effectively conveying anger, silence, and subtle shifts in her demeanor.

Subhash’s performance is equally captivating, exuding scintillating energy and authenticity in her countenance.

Sex With Ex Synopsis and Lust Stories 2 Review

Sex With Ex, directed by Sujoy Ghosh, presents an intriguing premise that explores the complexities of unexpected encounters between ex-spouses.

While the concept is engaging, the segment falls short due to its poor visual effects and a superficial climax that fails to leave a lasting impact.

The forced and overly artistic suspense creation doesn’t resonate as strongly as Ghosh’s previous works, creating a slight disconnect.

However, the onscreen chemistry between Vijay Varma and Tamannaah Bhatia is a redeeming factor, adding a beautifully enchanting element to the story.

Vijay Varma delivers a sensationally brilliant performance in Sex With Ex, immersing himself in the character and capturing its essence religiously.

Tamannaah Bhatia brings sweetness and charm to her role, effectively complementing the tale and enhancing the chemistry between the two actors.

Tilchatta Synopsis and Lust Stories 2 Review

Amit Ravindernath Sharma’s Tilchatta presents a powerful narrative that addresses the sensitive topic of domestic abuse.

The segment revolves around Devyani (Kajol), who endures regular physical abuse from her husband, Suraj (Kumud Mishra).

The story explores Devyani’s struggles and the difficult choices she faces, highlighting the importance of empowerment and self-discovery.

While the pacing of the segment may feel a bit slow at times, the storyline itself is decent and gains momentum as it builds towards its impactful climax.

The concept feels fresh and novel, particularly when viewed in conjunction with the emotionally charged finale.

Kajol delivers a standout performance in Tilchatta, showcasing her acting prowess and riding on her decades-long experience.

Her powerful portrayal of Devyani leaves a lasting impression.

Kumud Mishra skillfully depicts the male chauvinist character of Suraj, convincingly embodying his rough demeanor and making the audience believe in his intimidating presence.

Overall, Lust Stories 2 continues the exploration of desire and relationships in modern India. While each segment offers unique perspectives and performances, the anthology maintains a cohesive narrative that will engage audiences. Despite a few shortcomings, the film stands as a testament to the evolving Indian society and the complexities of human desires.

Should You Stream or Skip Lust Stories 2?

The movie is enjoyable as a whole and I recommend you watch it.

Can I Watch Lust Stories 2 with my Family?

Well, you should. But I think Indians are yet to discover that sort of caliber. So, you should rather go for it alone or have a movie night with friends.
