Away from all that, in this blog, I explain to you the ending of Animal, comprising the last fifty minutes of the movie.

This might be a long read. So, be prepared in advance. Also, as usual, I mostly explain Animal’s detailed ending in words just for better context and comprehension.

Please remember that the names Ranvijay and Vijay are used interchangeably for Ranbir Kapoor’s character.

The starting point of the explanation is Zoya’s entry into the protagonist’s life.

Be wary of spoilers though.

Animal Movie Detailed Ending Explained

Ranvijay falls for Zoya in the very first meeting. He arranges for her stay in his granddad’s house at Janpath. It marks the beginning of their love story.

The couple gets involved in several intimate moments almost on a regular basis. He starts ignoring Geetanjali’s phone calls.

Ranvijay’s security personnel, whom he calls ‘brothers,’ suspect that it’s Zoya’s fiance’s heart that is attracting him towards her.

On the other hand, Geetanjali fails to understand Vijay’s behavior. She keeps calling him and the latter continues ignoring her.

Swarmed by his love for Zoya, Ranvijay decides to buy her a lavish Rolls Royce, customized according to her style.

He specifically chooses the color of their ‘love bite’ as the car’s color.

When it arrives home, and the couple is about to welcome the car together, it blasts, sending everybody into panic mode.

Zoya is shocked as she returns to the house. Vijay approaches her with a saree for their marriage but she refuses to accept it, saying she can’t marry her.

On top of it, Zoya tells him that he shouldn’t be in love with her because she is his enemy.

In an emotionally fragile state, she tells him that this was all part of a plan. The heart inside Vijay’s body is not of her fiance’s.

Instead, this was done on the orders of Abrar Haq (Bobby Deol). Vijay asks her further about the plan and she begins narrating the same.

Abrar’s younger brother, Aziz, who is a professional butcher, has researched all about Ranvijay, from his school to his stay in America.

They are making a fake Vijay (body double) using surgical methods to infiltrate the family and kill all the members when the time is right and the real Vijay is busy with Zoya.

Once the family is finished, Abrar would leave the real Vijay alive to give him a philosophical death.

She further tells him that Abrar shares some blood relation with Vijay since he calls his dad Balbir ‘Chacha’ (uncle).

The blast in the Rolls Royce was to kill Vijay. At this point in their conversation, Ranvijay reveals that he knew about her intentions from the very beginning, and the blast was done to make her spill out everything.

Zoya asks him what should she do now and he suggests her to die. However, she confesses her profound love for Ranvijay and requests him to never hate her after she is gone.

To prove herself, he asks Zoya to lick his shoe. The minute she sits down to do the same, he exits the room and instructs Sangram to behave with her respectfully.

Now, the question arises…

Why Did Ranvijay Not Kill Zoya?

He may not have loved her but he knew she had no hard feelings for him and that all she did was because of Abrar’s possible threats.

The fact that she told him everything all on her own will further made Ranvijay go soft on her. He had realized that she was actually in love with him.

Ranvijay reaches out to his grandfather to know whether Zoya’s aspersions were right.

His grandfather (let’s call him ‘Bauji’) had three brothers, one of whom was content with living in the village.

But Bauji and the other brother (let’s call him ‘X’) wanted to conquer the world. They started Swastik Steels as the first step in achieving their dreams.

However, X became greedy and started creating nuisance in the business. Bauji forgave him several times but his misdeeds never stopped.

So, he threw X out of the company. Shame led him to leave the country and start a new life abroad. Years later, X died by suicide.

Subsequently, when X’s son (Abrar’s father) grew up, he came back to India to ask for his share in Swastik Steels.

However, Balbir didn’t entertain him. Later, he went on to convert to Islam and had several kids from different wives.

Abrar is his eldest son; hence, a cousin of Ranvijay.

Bauji asks him to forgive Abrar. Going on to kill him will not end the war since his son, brothers, and relatives would then come after him.

He calls it a never-ending “Mahabharat.” However, Vijay walks out of the room with the aim of punishing Abrar for his plot to end his family.

Later, in the night, Ranvijay goes to his room, where Geetanjali is sitting on the sofa. Apparently, it is Karva Chauth and she had been waiting for him to end her fast.

Vijay wakes her up and just before she can see the moon, he tells her that he slept with Zoya. A long argument ensues between the two with Geetanjali almost broken into pieces.

She asks him if he would be okay had she been involved with another man. Ranvijay gives a fierce reply that he would never let any man near her.

There comes a point when she says, that till his father is alive, there won’t be one day of peace in their house. Also, she wished Balbir Singh died the day he was shot.

This triggers Ranvijay who goes out, brings a gun inside, and aims at Geetanjali. She asks him to fire the shot and an angry Vijay shoots the window instead.

Everybody at their house gets alert. The nannies take the kids out. Balbir and his wife come into the room and ask about their well-being.

However, Vijay sends them back saying it was just a mild husband-wife quarrel. Afterwards, Ranvijay leaves for Scotland, to finish Abrar.

Before leaving, he tells Geetanjali to not marry anyone else in case he dies fighting him. We then see Vijay and his gang barraging into Abrar’s Scotland house with guns and roars.

They kill whoever comes in their way. Hearing them launch the attack, Abrar grabs his weapon but he is stopped by Abid, his brother-cum-translator.

According to him, Vijay’s only goal is to kill Abrar but the latter’s goal is to kill Balbir. Therefore, fighting Ranvijay will be a futile exercise.

Abrar agrees with him and the duo sneaks out of the house. Vijay and his men get hold of his three wives, one of whom is pregnant.

They deny knowing anything. Meanwhile, Abrar’s wife’s water breaks and she immediately needs medical care.

However, unless they reveal Abrar’s whereabouts, Vijay won’t let them live.

At gunpoint, one of the three women breaks down and tells them that Abrar is leaving the country from a particular airstrip.

Immediately, Ranvijay leaves for the said destination. A few men take the lady to the hospital.

At the airstrip, Abrar’s plane is just about to take off when a parade of vehicles enters the runway and forces it to stop.

This time, he doesn’t listen to Abid and steps out onto the runway with the intent of killing Ranvijay, who, on the other hand, instructs his men to not interfere even if he gets killed.

Their fight continues for two hours with no clear winner in sight. Both disallow anyone else to fire a bullet from afar.

Eventually, Ranvijay takes charge and offers Abrar one last chance to get back to his family. The latter says no and prefers dying instead as Vijay slits his throat, thereby getting his revenge.

He returns home and informs his dad about the same. The scene then shifts to Diwali day.

Wearing a white Kurta, Ranvijay enters his dad’s room before meeting Geetanjali on the way and telling her they would leave for America the next day.

The father-son duo exchanges Diwali wishes and Ranvijay suggests he take a holiday from work.

He wants Balbir to come to America with him so they can spend some family time together.

His plans come crashing down when Balbir offers him a piece of paper that contains information about his illness related to the fourth stage of Leukemia.

Vijay offers him solace saying it is a common disease in America and finding a cure will not be an issue at all once he makes some calls.

However, Balbir declines his offer and scolds him instead, still angry about his violent ways of achieving desired results.

The son replies saying had it not been for his violent ways, their house would not have seen the light of the day. The father continues the carnage through words calling Ranvijay a criminal at heart.

Vijay’s mom tries to intervene but he asks her to go outside, calling it the first personal moment with his dad in 36 years. Though Balbir insists she come and sit near him, she leaves the room.

Afterward, Ranvijay asks Balbir to switch roles with him, where the former plays the father and the latter plays the son.

They enact a scene from Vijay’s childhood, which eventually makes Balbir realize his mistake of not being a good father.

It puts him in his son’s shoes and makes him look at things from his perspective. As a result, he apologizes to his son.

When a sad Ranvijay leaves the room, Balbir comes from behind and repeats what his son once said to him.

“In the next life, you should become my father, and I your son. Avoid all the mistakes I have done. Then in the subsequent life, I will be your father once again, and give you all the happiness you deserve. You will be able to proudly say, ‘My Dad is the best Dad in the world.’”

The end credits roll with the visuals of Ranvijay crying like a child while hugging Mishra uncle. The emotional ending is further enhanced when Geetanjali leaves him for America, along with the kids.

She keeps calling his name, but Ranvijay doesn’t react.

However, a few moments later Abhay, Vijay’s son, runs out of the car, screaming “Papa.” Ranvijay gets up and hugs his son.

This is where Animal ends.

Animal’s Post-Credit Scene

We are then shown a post-credit scene, in which Ranvijay’s lookalike makes an entry into Abrar’s Scotland home.

Carrying sharp weapons in both his hands, he walks right in front of the mirror. He asks Zoya if certain aspects of his body match with Ranvijay’s to which she nods in ayes.

Who is Ranvijay’s Lookalike in Animal Ending?

He is actually Abrar’s younger brother, Aziz, who has taken the exact physical figure of Ranvijay. This was part of their plan to infiltrate Balbir’s family to finish every one.

Now, since Ranvijay might leave for America, it would be easier to finish the job. Plus, this time, he is also motivated by vengeance, his brother being killed by Ranvijay.

Aziz tears apart one of the two abducted men (one who sang and the other who gave Vijay the knife) from Ranvijay’s security for their role in the murder of Abrar.

The endless splashes of knife paint his clothes in red.

Seeing such a horrific sight, Zoya rushes to the bathroom to throw up. Aziz follows her and doesn’t take much time to realize that she is pregnant.

He warns her if the child is Vijay’s and not his, he will kill her.

Aziz also offers to marry Abrar’s wife and take full responsibility for her newborn children. She agrees and so does everyone else.

He then kills the second guy from Ranvijay’s security. The screen displays “ANIMAL PARK,” probably announcing the second part of Animal.

We are then welcomed to another post-credit scene from 2056, where the old Ranbir Kapoor redoes the action towards his lower half.

Now, what does the ending mean?

What Aziz Will Do in Animal 2 or Animal Park?

I think he will train Abrar’s two identical twins. And who will be the twins?

Going by logic, since they are Abrar’s sons, it means Bobby Deol could very well return to be a more ferocious villain in Animal Park.

In fact, we might see two Bobby Deols and one Ranbir Kapoor take on the real Ranbir Kapoor in Animal 2.

But, there is a huge probability of Balbir dying of Leukemia. So, either it will be a battle to kill Ranvijay or we might see the return of Anil Kapoor in another way.

The biggest twist, according to me, is the arrival of Aziz. Now, we don’t know if the old visuals of Ranbir Kapoor from 2056 are of Ranvijay’s or Aziz’s.

He can be anyone from the two.

This gives the makers the opportunity to create ample curiosity among the audience for Animal Park or Animal 2.

Anyhow, the second part will be more lethal, and might find it tough to get a censor certificate.

Did Anil Kapoor Die in Animal?

No. He didn’t die, but he was supposed to die soon because of Leukemia. The disease was at its fourth stage. Considering this, Ranvijay decided not to leave for America, resulting in his divorce from Geetanjali.

Will Geetanjali and Ranvijay be back together in Animal 2?

Considering the nature of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s movies, where he believes in the concept of “Alpha Male,” the couple would surely reunite.

The regressive undertones of the movie, discrediting the practice of divorce, are also an indication of the same.

When Will Animal 2 Release?

There is nothing official apart from the title, “Animal Park.” However, it will take at least two years for the film to go on floors if the script is already in the works.

So, you can expect Animal 2 by 2026-27.
