But can we just quickly offer an alternative that you may not have considered? Adventure vacations have really taken off in recent years, offering travelers a way to enjoy exotic and incredible destinations in a completely different way. You may have seen extreme bikers and skiers on sports TV shows and thought they were crazy – and you could be right! We are not expecting you to perform stunts that would get you into the Olympics or on some of the top betting platforms. But a little bit of adrenaline might be just what you need.
In this article, we are going to suggest a range of different activities for a more adventurous vacation. They might just change the way you view life, and at the very least, you will be able to enjoy the stunning scenery of these far-flung destinations.
Cycling in Sicily
They say that you never forget how to ride a bike. But if the extent of your cycling adventures is a quick spin to the local store, you might want to think a little more adventurously. There are cycling trips you could take just about anywhere in the world, but for an agreeable climate and a relatively easy trek, we’ve chosen the picturesque Italian island of Sicily.
Cycling is big in Italy, with the Giro d’Italia an annual event that rivals the Tour de France in scale. But the idea of cycling through the foothills of a Mediterranean island, tracking the coastlines, and exploring the UNESCO-listed towns along the way sounds like perfection. The food and wine to be enjoyed at your regular stops will be an extra bonus.
Sailing in Greece
There are so many different ways to enjoy the waterways of the world. You could choose a kayaking trip in Canada, for example. But for a more relaxing time, we’ve chosen to highlight the wonders of exploring the Greek islands by boat. The heat of the sun and the warm waters of the Aegean Sea, what’s not to love?
There have been numerous accounts of Greek island hopping turned into blockbuster movies, so you will already have a good idea of what a sailing trip in this part of the world will entail. But until you get there, you will not believe just how blue the water is and how golden the beaches are. A sailing trip in paradise suddenly doesn’t sound too energetic, does it?
Surfing in Morocco
Just about everyone has watched the surfers of Hawaii or California and dreamt of being that cool one day. Carving through the waves to a Beach Boys soundtrack is an idyllic fantasy for many, but there are plenty of vacations you can take where you can learn to surf and enjoy the local delicacies at the same time.
Anywhere that has good waves can be a surf trip destination, but we thought Morocco might be a good surprise choice. A more up-and-coming location, the west coast of Morocco provides the kinds of waves that are perfect for beginners as well as those a little more experienced. Snorkeling in the Indian Ocean
Scuba diving is one of the bucket list activities that many people, unfortunately, just never get around to achieving. But if you’ve ever had a desire to explore the ocean, up close and personal, why not ease into watersports with a snorkeling vacation in one of the most colorful – and warmest – oceans on the planet?
Anywhere in the Indian Ocean offers dream-like desert islands and beaches, but either Sri Lanka or the Maldives (or both!) will certainly tick all of your boxes. You will be up close to the kinds of colorful sea life you’ve only ever seen on TV, while enjoying island life, safe in the knowledge that these waters are protected.
Wildlife Watching in Botswana
Most of the options we have already gone through are fairly laid back for what might be classified as an activity vacation. But if you really think that even those sound a little too energetic for what is supposed to be your downtime, how does the idea of wildlife watching in Africa sound?
