In Indian folklore and mythology, ‘Brahmastra’ is a lethal weapon that can destroy the entire universe. But our point of discussion is the movie Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna Akkineni also play pivotal characters in the film.
Ayan Mukerji directs the film, and Dharma Productions will present it in the Hindi Belt. The movie marks the return of Ranbir Kapoor on the big screen after the failure of Shamshera. Moreover, the posters and motion posters already have us craving for more.
Apart from all the star-studded talks, Brahmastra is a film that can change the future course of Bollywood. It can bring a new era of filmmaking since it promises to bring a unique perspective yet to be witnessed in Indian Cinema.
Here are 10 reasons why I feel Brahmastra would be a Blockbuster.
Alia and Ranbir for the first time
By far, the cutest and most loved couple in B-Town, Alia and Ranbir are a treat to watch in real life. It can only be imagined how adorable a pair they would make for the silver screen.
The two have never worked together before, making it the foremost reason to watch Brahmastra. The buzz has multiplied now that Alia and Ranbir are married.

Ranbir Kapoor has done films with several female leads. Interestingly, the highest number of films he has done with an actress is three each with Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, and Katrina Kaif.
On the other hand, Alia has done the most films, four, with Varun Dhawan.
Since Brahmastra will be a trilogy and considering Alia Bhatt’s character will stay alive throughout, the couple can have three films to their name in one go.
Ranbir, after 4 Years

When was the last time we saw Ranbir Kapoor on the big screen? It was Sanju, released way back in 2018. The actor had portrayed the role of Sanjay Dutt, and the movie earned huge bucks at the box office.
However, he hasn’t even appeared in a cameo role since then. While actors like Ajay Devgn and Manoj Bajpayee have made debuts in web shows, Ranbir is nowhere to be seen.
The actor keeps a low profile on social media and finds comfort in personal space. All his public appearances have been event-related or the casual airport stuff.
Brahmastra is a golden opportunity for him and his fans to have a grand get-together after so long.
Update: Ranbir’s Shamshera released in July 2022.
A Trilogy
Movies in parts are not Bollywood’s cup of tea. Only superhero films like Krrish and action films like Salman Khan’s Tiger franchise have been able to ace a continuing story.
Brahmastra promises to be a three-part cosmic franchise, where the stories will overlap each other, most probably.
Costliest Bollywood film
Yes, Brahmastra is touted to be the costliest Bollywood film ever, thanks to its incredible VFX. The makers didn’t want to compromise on the quality of the project, so they didn’t hold back from spending money.
It is interesting to note that the first priority of Ranbir Kapoor is the performance of the movie. He is not charging a big sum to keep the costs in check.
Also, it is reported that Ayan Mukerji, the director of Brahmastra, is co-producing the film along with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
It would be unfair if I didn’t quote the alleged budget for Brahmastra. The fascinating superhero film is being made with a budget of over INR 400 Crores ($4000 million).
Presently, it is unclear whether the said amount is invested as a whole for all three films or for just the first part. If the latter comes out to be true, it would be compelling to see what they are planning to bring on the screen.
Ayan Mukerji’s Dream Project
I remember being in the final year of my college when filming for Brahmastra began. That was in 2017; however, there’s more to the movie.
Though the shooting started in 2017, the idea of Brahmastra has been in the works since 2011. Ayan had conceptualized it during the shoot of YJHD in the himalayas.

Initially, it was the dream project of Ayan Mukerji, but with time, Ranbir also joined in with extreme enthusiasm. I don’t know if you know this, but Ayan Mukerji only directs when Ranbir is playing the lead.
His last directorial was Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani in 2013. Since then, he has been solely focusing on Brahmastra.
He will be back with a movie after nine years, which has been in the works for almost 11 years. Isn’t it enthralling?
High on VFX
This is one chilling factor about Brahmastra. Obviously, a film with a massive budget of over INR 400 crores must be high on aesthetics and visual appeal, but Brahmastra is said to be having never seen before VFX.
Since it is created around the power of Lord Shiva and the weapon of Lord Brahma, some cosmic features are sure to be part of the film.
Another world

Brahmastra promises to bring to life another world. In the recently released motion poster of the movie, Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor) is talking about something unusual going around the world that is out of reach of ordinary people.
In all probabilities, the makers will be creating another cosmic world to bring solutions to the evils in the current world. It is only a theory, but things would become clearer once we get our hands on the teasers and trailers of Brahmastra.
3D
The movie is shot in 3D, which you can only witness on the big screen. I had gone to watch 83 starring Ranveer Singh when they showed several trailers and teasers before the start of the film. The lineup also included Brahmastra’s motion poster.
Believe it or not, the poster held me captive to the core. Visual effects were stunning that are best experienced in theatres. From Shiva’s weapon (the Trishul) to the cosmic fire, everything was perfect. Above all, it were the 3D effects that were top-notch.
Cosmic
The movie starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor deals with the unknown powers of the cosmic world. The first part of Brahmastra is named Shiva, an Indian Lord. And since the title relates to a weapon created by Lord Brahma, the movie must involve him in some or the other way.
Interestingly, Lord Brahma is the creator of the universe, and his weapon, Brahmastra, can destroy the world. Lord Shiva is also known by some references as the destroyer of the universe.
I can assess that the first part would leave us on a cliff-hanger with Shiva (Ranbir) opining on using the Brahmastra to destroy the world to resolve a specific problem.
Again, it’s just a theory.
Collaboration with SS Rajamouli
SS Rajamouli is a force to reckon with in the South Indian Film Industry. He is loved by one and all, even in the North Indian households, especially after Bahubali.
Brahmastra will release in 5 Indian languages, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. SS Rajamouli has officially come on board to present the film in the four southern languages.
His presence is sure to strengthen the box office collections of Brahmastra.
An Unexplored Territory
The film’s plot might be anything, but what’s sure to amaze the viewers is the presentation. I am personally waiting to witness how the makers would use Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna Akkineni. The fact that they plan to bring it in the form of a trilogy says a lot about the content.
Had they not believed in the idea, they would not have committed to three parts. Even Bahubali’s second part was only confirmed publicly at a later stage.
What Brahmastra plans to bring to the screen is something that is not yet explored in the Indian market. If the content is good, the film will do wonders at the box office.
Conclusion
You may have different opinions, but as a lover of Indian Cinema, I am backing Brahmastra to break the myths and shower us with something unique. Be it the VFX, which we have been witnessing intermittently, the 3D effects, or the cast, everything is going on the positive track.
All that Brahmastra now needs is good storytelling and having Ayan Mukerji as the director, with films like Wake Up Sid and Ye Jawani Hai Deewani under his belt, shouldn’t we be sure of that?
