An individual without a smartphone is rare these days. As technology continues to advance, one crucial aspect that smartphone users consider is the software update policy.

Keeping your device up-to-date with the latest Android OS updates ensures improved performance, enhanced security, and access to new features.

More importantly, it reduces the hassle of purchasing a new phone every now and then.

In this blog, I will provide you with some of the notable phones released in July 2023 that offer at least three years of Android OS update policy, providing users with longevity and peace of mind.

Please keep in mind that July is still ongoing and any new phone will be added to the list as soon as it launches.

1. Samsung Galaxy M34 5G

Can you imagine that the first phone on the list has a starting price of less than Rs.20k?

Available in two RAM variants, 6/128 GB (Rs. 18,999) and 8/128 GB (Rs. 20,999), this smartphone packs a punch in terms of value for money.

What sets it apart from its competitors is its exceptional software update policy. Samsung promises a remarkable four years of Android OS updates and five years of security updates, ensuring your device stays relevant and secure.

It has the best software update policy among the phones released in July 2023. However, Samsung has very slyly put a rider ahead of it in fine print.

The company says on the product page that “the information contained here is intended to describe Samsung’s current plans regarding potential software & security updates on Galaxy M34 5G. The information communicated is not a commitment or an obligation of Samsung.”

I am not sure what the company means by this. As a phone manufacturer, they are meant to commit to software updates but instead, Samsung chooses to market with a *conditions apply.

Nevertheless, on paper, the Galaxy M34 5G offers an incredible software update policy for its price range, accompanied by standout features such as a 120 Hz refresh rate, a 50 MP primary camera, and NFC capabilities.

2. OnePlus Nord 3

Power-packed Performance and Longevity Released on July 5, 2023, the OnePlus Nord 3 caters to users seeking flagship-grade performance without breaking the bank.

Priced starting from Rs.33,999, this smartphone impresses with its MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor, capable of clocking at an impressive 3 GHz.

The highest RAM option of 16 GB and 256 GB of ROM can be purchased for Rs.37,999, making it a beast in its price range.

The OnePlus Nord 3 ensures a long-lasting experience with its update policy, offering three years of OS updates and four years of security updates.

Interestingly, it shares several similarities with the OnePlus 11R, making it an intriguing choice for OnePlus enthusiasts.

Standout Features:

  • Flagship grade processor in MediaTek Dimensity 9000 that can clock at 3 GHz.
  • The highest RAM option is 16 GB with 256 GB of ROM.
  • OnePlus Nord 3 uses Sony’s IMX890 primary camera sensor, the same used in the OnePlus 11.

3. Oppo Reno 10 Series (Oppo Reno 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro+)

Finally, Oppo finds its place on our list with the Oppo Reno 10 series, released on July 10, 2023.

Among the three devices, the cheapest one is the Oppo Reno 10, costing Rs.32,999 for a single variant (8GB, 256 GB).

The smartphone flaunts the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 and offers a triple camera setup.

Next in the line is the Oppo Reno10 Pro, which also comes in a single version i.e., 12 GB, 256GB.

It is priced at Rs.39,999. Strangely, the pro version has a weaker processor than the Reno10 in Snapdragon 778G.

The most extravagant model of the Reno10 series is the Oppo Reno10 Pro+.

Priced at Rs.54,999, this device impresses with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, boasting a primary clock speed of 3.2 GHz.

Furthermore, its 64 MP telephoto lens adds a rare feature to this price segment, and the 100W Supervooc charge ensures swift battery replenishment.

All the three models guarantee 3 years of Android OS updates and 4 years of Security updates.

The Oppo Reno 10 Pro Plus delivers a seamless user experience while providing necessary software updates and security enhancements. However, I would have loved it supplying 4 years of OS updates.

4. Nothing Phone (2)

Making waves as the successor to the popular Nothing Phone (1), the Nothing Phone (2) continues to captivate smartphone enthusiasts.

Starting at Rs.44,999 and going up to Rs.54,999 for the 12/512 GB variant, this device stands out with its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Processor, ensuring powerful performance.

With up to 512 GB of storage, a unique Glyph interface, and an IP54 rating, the Nothing Phone (2) offers an enticing package.

Similar to other phones in this list, it promises three years of OS updates and four years of security updates.

However, considering its higher price compared to its predecessor (+16k to be precise), one might have expected a more extended OS update policy.

Final Word

As technology continues to evolve, having a smartphone with a reliable and long-lasting software update policy becomes increasingly important.

The phones released in July 2023 showcased here, including the Samsung Galaxy M34 5G, OnePlus Nord 3, Oppo Reno 10 Pro Plus, and Nothing Phone (2), offer at least three years of Android OS updates, ensuring a seamless and up-to-date experience for their users.
